Student Attendance Matters
Research supports the direct relationship between student attendance and academic accomplishments. Students who regularly attend school achieve at higher levels and develop social and emotional school readiness skills more quickly than students who do not attend regularly. The compulsory education law (N.J.S.A.18A:38-28 through 31) requires all children between ages 6-16 to attend school. The state of NJ deems students as chronically absent if they are absent from school 10% of the school year. Any absence, whether excused or not, ultimately denies students the opportunity to meaningfully engage in the school's instructional program. Every school day a scholar misses is a lost opportunity to learn.

Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students (2026-2027)
Mount Holly Township School District will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2026-2027 school year. ALL enrolled students in Mount Holly Township School District will receive one healthy breakfast and lunch each day at no cost to households. Parents and guardians are still required by the State of New Jersey to submit a Free and Reduced application or check that they do not want to apply (takes less than 10 minutes). Only one application is needed per household. Approval for free school meals automatically qualifies children for Summer EBT, a program providing a one-time $120 benefit for groceries during summer months. If a child wishes to have a second meal, breakfast costs $2.00 and lunch costs $3.25. À la carte items and snacks (beverages, chips, cookies) are not free. Applications are available in Genesis and can be downloaded from provided links. For questions or to discuss special dietary needs, contact Food Service Director at (609) 267-7033 ext 6510 or aperez@mtholly.k12.nj.us.

Harassment, Intimidation, & Bullying (HIB) Reporting
The NJ Anti-Bullying Rights Act (ABR) defines harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB) as any gesture, any written, verbal, or physical act, or any electronic communication, whether it be a single incident or a series of incidents, that is reasonably perceived as being motivated either by an actual or perceived characteristic. School community members (employees, scholars, parents/guardians, and visitors) are asked to immediately report allegations of harassment, intimidation, or bullying in writing to ensure details are accurately recorded. An anonymous HIB Incident Report form is available. For further assistance, contact Diayle Davis, School Counselor at (609) 267-7200 ext 6505 or ddavis@mtholly.k12.nj.us. National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place between September 15th and October 15th in the United States. HMS celebrates this opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their heritage and culture. Featured figures include Ellen Ochoa, an engineer who made history in 1993 as the first Hispanic woman in space and later served as director of the Johnson Space Center, and Cesar Chavez, an American labor leader and civil rights activist who co-founded the National Farm Workers Association (later the United Farm Workers) to fight for better conditions for agricultural workers.
