Attendance and Chronic Absenteeism Awareness
Starting school or returning to school can be a great experience for youngest learners, but for others it can be scary as they adjust to their new routine. Ensuring students attend school daily and on time assists them in their transition and provides the best learning opportunity. Students attending daily and on time are exposed to the entirety of the curriculum and social opportunities with peers. As part of NJDOE's efforts to combat chronic absenteeism, all student absences will be tracked. NJDOE defines chronic absenteeism as being absent for more than 10% of the school year. In accordance with the Cherry Hill Attendance Policy, attendance letters will be sent home at intervals of 4, 7, and 10 consecutive days absent from the program. Preschool students absent for 10 or more consecutive days will be at risk of losing their spot in the preschool program.

The Coles Program - Back to School Night
On September 17th, the Coles Program welcomed families to Back to School Night, giving parents and guardians the opportunity to meet their students' teachers, follow their child's schedule, and learn about the year ahead. Staff shared classroom expectations, course goals, and this year's program-wide focus on Presence—being consistent and showing up for students every day. Families were introduced to new staff and updated classroom procedures, including teacher-set cell phone limits. The evening reflected the collaboration between staff and families that the Coles Program relies on to help every student feel supported, known, and ready to succeed.
