Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15, honoring the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans with roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. At Bret Harte, families are encouraged to read books by Hispanic and Latino authors, explore music and art, learn about traditions from different countries, and share their own family's stories and experiences.

A. Russell Knight Elementary School held a Glow Dance on October 1st for students and families to gather, have fun, and strengthen connections. The event featured a mobile sensory room (funded by a $2,500 grant from an outside organization) to ensure all students could participate and feel included.

High School West is performing the family-friendly comedy "Hotel Frankenstein." When Dr. Frankenstein turns his castle into a hotel, he hopes to find a new brain for his monster, but gets more than he bargained for when Dracula, the Wolfman, and a wise-cracking comedian and his family show up. A great way to kick off the Halloween season!

A Community Discussion with the Board of Education, Dr. Kwame Morton, and District Administration Topic: Technology (screen time, AI, and student use of internet-enabled devices)

An opportunity to reinforce our shared commitment to keeping Bret Harte Elementary School safe, welcoming, and supportive for every student. This week emphasizes kindness, respect, peaceful conflict resolution, and the importance of seeking help from a trusted adult when something feels unsafe. Families can support these messages at home by discussing how to handle disagreements calmly, include others, and speak up about concerns.

The Cherry Hill Police Department (CHPD) will lead presentations on making safe, responsible choices online.

During morning announcements, students will learn calming strategies, including taking deep breaths, pausing, and asking for help when experiencing strong emotions.

Families are encouraged to help children identify trusted adults at home and at school. Discuss: 'Who can you tell if you feel unsafe or worried?' Remind children to keep asking for help until a trusted adult responds.

Students will reflect on how they can help make school a safe, welcoming space through kind words, including others, resolving disagreements peacefully, and sharing concerns with a trusted adult.
